Markus Töll, hailing from Bressanone in northern Italy, has honed his craft as a metalworker and technical draftsman. His journey led him to London, where he immersed himself in the world of photography, particularly exploring the intricacies of darkroom techniques.
Presently based in Vienna, Markus has furthered his architectural education at the esteemed Technical University, culminating in the completion of his master's degree in 2021. Since then, he has embarked on a professional career as an architectural model maker, establishing his own studio dedicated to the art of chairmaking in 2022.
At the core of Markus’ work lies a relentless pursuit of originality in metal seating concepts. His designs bear testament to a discerning eye for proportion and context, resulting in a subtle yet unmistakably postmodern aesthetic.
Tondo, drawing its essence from the Italian word “rotondo”, meaning round, unveils a captivating composition of two circles fashioned from meticulously turned birch plywood plates, resting upon elegant aluminum supports. The deliberate reduction of joint elements accentuates the interplay between flat and voluminous components, unveiling a visually compelling tension.
Supersedia I, the inaugural embodiment of Markus' vision, employs glossy acrylic plates to conceal its welding seams, heightening the visual impact of its rigorously defined armchair form, elegantly supported by three legs.
Gonzo, an all-steel barstool designed for versatile indoor and outdoor use, captivates with its vibrant color palette. The judicious application of powder coating serves to refine the monolithic personality of its wedge-shaped seating surface, striking a harmonious balance between form and function.
Tizio, a minimalist chair meticulously crafted from steel, stands resolute in its purest form. Offered in a range of hardness options and surface finishes, Tizio's clear-cut silhouette exudes a self-assured presence, elevating the very essence of chairmaking tradition.
Toledo, with its distinct low-sitting profile, unfolds its commanding mass through its prominently sculpted front section. The sinuous steel plates, in unison with the elliptical upholstery, evoke an intriguing relationship with orbital space, imparting a sense of graceful equilibrium.

It effortlessly encapsulates the interplay between supple leather and unyielding steel components, seamlessly melding traditional craftsmanship with contemporary sensibilities.
